  This session is for frontline health and social care staff with additional responsibilities for information governance (IG).
  IG is the way in which information is managed and shared appropriately.
  This session will give staff knowledge of the principles behind information sharing and the confidence to apply them in practice.
  The session should take 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

  By the end of this session you should be able to demonstrate a confident approach to using and sharing information for care and other purposes.

  You will be able to:

  • Understand that the purpose for which you are sharing information will determine which rules you apply
  • Explain the key principles to consider when deciding whether to share information
  • Show familiarity with the NHSX IG portal and how to use it
  • Identify the circumstances in which staff should seek further advice, and from whom
