This session will increase knowledge and understanding of appropriate prescribing of Oral Nutritional Supplements (ONS). 

Our Dietitians are offering Lunchtime Webinar Training for GPs on appropriate prescribing of Oral Nutritional Supplements. This is in line with the updated ONS Prescribing in Primary Care Pathway and aligns with the ICB Pharmacy Priority to reduce prescriptions of non-first line Oral Nutritional Supplements, due to a national spend of £148 million and NWL spend od £4.2 million.

All Primary Care staff are welcome to attend this training, although training sessions for Pharmacists, Nursing Staff and HCS’s will be delivered via Staff Forums so that it is more targeted for each role.

Agenda

  • Refresher on malnutrition – context, cost, incidence, consequence
  • Update on new clinical pathway for ONS prescribing in primary care
  • Training update for GPs on guideline for ONS prescribing

The course will be run virtually, using Microsoft Teams.
